Under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquiere, Louis Vuitton has reacquired a facility for a certain kind of bag that didn’t seem like much of a priority in the last seasons of Marc Jacobs’s storied tenure at the brand: the simple, functional monogram day bag. With bags like the Popincourt and Neonoe, the brand is putting a modern Louis Vuitton twist on classic bag structures: instead of the plain vachetta leather that has long served as an accent to monogram canvas, Vuitton is combining the renowned material with colored leathers for a fresh feel. the most recent brag structure to get that treatment is the video camera bag, by way of the Louis Vuitton Saintonge Bag.
At practically 9″ broad and over 3″ deep, the Saintonge Bag is one of those pieces that looks deceptively small on the outside but fits way much more than you’d think, which is the ideal type of video camera bag. On this style, the front and back panels are classic monogram, with the sides and top swathed in contrasting solid leather that matches the ought to strap, leather interior and front tassels.
The bag also has a top handle, but the strap is not adjustable or removable, so it can’t be carried as a handbag for a dressier look. That’s okay, though; this type of bag is implied to be used during the daytime, and it’s particularly helpful because it’s lightweight, not bulky and completely hands-free. inside of this one, you’ll find an open compartment with a single pouch pocket at the rear, with the whole bag fastened by a full zip closure.
Overall, I really like this new design; the only thing I’m not completely sold on is the front tassel, but I agree with the brand that giving it a little something up front is a good idea in general. Apparently, I’m not the only one fond of the new bag; all three colors (pink, black and ivory) are currently sold out online.
